Dear Neighbors and Friends,
You may have heard news of a spike in Covid cases in Greene County. Our numbers are on the rise. The positivity rate has climbed to 1.8% as of this afternoon. This is significantly higher than the statewide rate of 1.22% – which includes newly detected “hotspots.”

According to the Greene County Public Health Department, this is due to a number of factors including an outbreak at Greene Correctional facility in Coxsackie. In addition, an exposure at Greenville Middle School has increased the number of people on quarantine. The department has stated that, “this is not the time to become complacent and/or argumentative about Covid…washing your hands, keeping 6 feet socially distanced, and wearing a mask are still your best chance at not contracting the virus.”
We must all stay vigilant to protect our families, ourselves and our friends and neighbors from the spread of Covid. Which, as we’ve seen over the course of the last seven months, can move very rapidly through a community.
Let’s do everything we can to keep our schools, businesses and houses of worship open and safe by following proper masking, hygiene and social distancing protocols. We can keep this spike from growing out of control if we all work together.
This hasn’t been an easy time for any of us, but we will get through it!
Stay safe, stay healthy.
Mayor Stephan Bradicich
