Hello Neighbors,
In 2020 the Village of Athens entered into a Community Choice Aggregation program to lower energy costs for residents by purchasing as a group. You can find more information about the program here. The contract was for two years, which means it is expiring this month. Those of you who chose to participate may have already received notice from Central Hudson regarding this.
We have spoken with our plan administrators at Good Energy and they’ve told us the following:
Right now, Central Hudson is going to be a better deal than what Good Energy can do for us because Central Hudson has pitched their price artificially low (below market). Perhaps this is a customer relations gesture because of all the trouble people were having with them recently.
Good Energy will monitor the market and Central Hudson’s pricing and just as soon as we can do better with Good Energy than the CH price, we will sign a new contract and resume the program.
Thanks!
