Snow Emergency: Mar. 3rd – Mar. 5th

Hello Neighbors,

The Mayor has declared a snow emergency for the Village of Athens effective beginning at 7pm on Friday, March 3, 2023. Please take note of the parking regulations below and help us keep the streets clear.

The snow emergency parking regulations go into effect immediately and will remain in effect until Sunday, March 5, 2023.

The restrictions imposed by this declared emergency shall remain in effect for a minimum of 48 hours. Alternate side of the street parking shall be in effect for the duration of the emergency and shall commence at the time the declaration is made. On even-numbered days, parking is permitted only on the even-numbered side of the street. On odd-numbered days parking is only permitted on the odd-numbered side of the street. A restricted day starts at 8:00 a.m. and continues until 8:00 a.m. the following day.

  1. Good morning, I live on S Franklin St, and dutifully moved my car to the west side of the street a little before 8 am on Saturday, March 4. The west side had been cleared in the early morning, and it appeared that the east side had also been plowed well before 8 am, with the plow going around the parked cars, piling snow next to the driver side. It’s now 8 am on the morning of the 5th, and the east side of the street, where cars had been moved out per the regulation, has not been cleared.
