Hello Neighbors,
A snow emergency has been declared for the Village of Athens effective beginning at 7pm on Sunday, March 12, 2023. Please take note of the parking regulations below and help us keep the streets clear.
The snow emergency parking regulations go into effect immediately and will remain in effect until 8am on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
The restrictions imposed by this declared emergency shall remain in effect for a minimum of 48 hours. Alternate side of the street parking shall be in effect for the duration of the emergency and shall commence at the time the declaration is made. On even-numbered days, parking is permitted only on the even-numbered side of the street. On odd-numbered days parking is only permitted on the odd-numbered side of the street. A restricted day starts at 8:00 a.m. and continues until 8:00 a.m. the following day.
Thank you and stay warm!
Again, 4 cars (and garbage cans) were not moved off Second Street by my home and several cars were still parked down on Second Street west of Washington Street this morning at 6 am Even though we only had rain as predicted, my car was moved as usual!
Thank you for the info and for moving your vehicle. We do our best to be prepared. Sometimes the forecast is incorrect. The snow emergency parking regulations will be reviewed this year as there seems to be a lot of confusion out there. Happy spring!
Thanks to the Village and the Village DPW for the snowplowing! We appreciate the time and effort (not to mention the early mornings and late evenings) that you all put in during these winter months.
